Climate Action Plan

Sustainable development is a set of measures aimed at meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, while preserving the environment and resources.
Sustainable development emphasizes the need to balance economic growth, social development and environmental factors, recognizing the importance of conserving natural resources, biodiversity and the equitable distribution of benefits within society.

The Sustainable Development Goals are 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015, aimed at achieving sustainable development in all its aspects by 2030.

The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals cover a wide range of priorities, such as ending poverty, ending hunger, achieving clean water and sanitation, providing quality education, gender equality, combating climate change, ensuring justice and equity, and others.

At the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Summit, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that the UN 2030 Agenda is a unique opportunity for today’s generation to build a prosperous future. The President also noted that achieving the CIS is a national priority for Kazakhstan and that the principles of sustainable development have become the basis of the country’s national strategies and programs.

The Kazakh National Women’s Pedagogical University has maintained its stability and development potential for 80 years. Our long and deep history demonstrates our ability to adapt to change while maintaining the values and goals of sustainable development. Over the decades, the university has trained more than 70,000 teachers who have contributed to the “knowledge economy” of our country and continues to direct its efforts to developing and enhancing the intellectual potential of future leaders of change.

Our university, supporting the UN sustainable development programs, annually develops its contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through social, economic and environmental initiatives. As the university is largely a “teachers’ workshop” and is fully committed to recruiting women, primarily from rural areas, it actively promotes and contributes to ensuring access to quality education for all and reducing gender and social inequalities.

The university has also developed an Eco-Campus strategy, which implements activities aimed at protecting the environment, collecting and recycling waste, saving water and energy, and developing environmentally friendly habits. The Eco-Campus supports students in research and project work on environmental issues and implements social initiatives to raise environmental awareness and responsibility among students, faculty, and staff.
