On October 28, 2025, an educational meeting aimed at improving students’ religious literacy was held at the Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University. The event was organized by the Center for Mental Health Development for first-year students of the Institute of Physics, Mathematics, and Digital Technologies.
During the meeting, Ismail Nurislam, theologian at the Center for Mental Health Development, spoke about the main areas of the Center’s activities and addressed issues related to the current religious landscape and the influence of radical ideologies spreading through the internet on young people’s worldviews. He emphasized the importance of developing critical thinking when perceiving religious information and adopting a conscious approach to matters of faith.
Alip Tursingali, member of the Republican Information and Outreach Group and religious scholar, also spoke at the event. He elaborated on the interconnection between religion and tradition, the need to preserve national values, and the dangers of pseudo-religious movements for society. The speaker provided specific examples explaining the ideological methods of radical movements and ways to prevent their influence.
At the end of the meeting, participants were informed about Article 7 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Religious Activity and Religious Associations.” In particular, it was noted that holding religious gatherings and conducting missionary activities on the premises of educational institutions is prohibited.
Such meetings contribute to the development of students’ spiritual culture, the enhancement of their religious literacy, and the strengthening of a healthy worldview.
